The Big 5

When I first heard "The Big 5 Concept" earlier I couldn't manage to wrap my head around it. This is mostly due to having connection issues when it was being mentioned in an online lesson taught by two classmates. However, I did some digging on google and I was able to find out more about it. The concept is about five different character traits. These traits are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. Each trait deals with different parts of a person's personality. Openness deals with how one is willing to explore intellectual change, mostly new forms of creativity. Conscientiousness revolves around self-discipline and organization. Extraversion is about a person's energy levels and how social a person can be, especially in new environments and around new people. Agreeableness varies from other traits in a different manner. Although it still revolves around day-to-day interactions, it more so dips into being compassionate rather than being suspicious or antagonistic. The fifth and final trait, neuroticism deals with vulnerability to negative moods like anger, vulnerability, depression, etc. This trait also refers to emotional stability and impulse control. Neuroticism is definitely visible, especially with someone who has dealt with mental health issues or has had emotional instability in the past.
